Abstract

Photon bremsstrahlung contributions to hadronic W ± γ and Zγ production are calculated using the leading-logarithm fragmentation function approach. These contributions arise from subprocesses such as qg→ Vq( V = W ± or Z) followed by photon bremsstrahlung from the final state quark. The bremsstrahlung processes are backgrounds to the Born processes q q→Vγ which are important for testing the standard model. The bremsstrahlung contributions are significant at LHC/SSC energies, however, they can be suppressed to a manageable level by imposing isolation cuts on the photon.
