Abstract
The United States has been slow to embrace the 1989 World Health Organization (WHO)/United Nation’s International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) statement on breastfeeding. The United States has been aggressive in establishing these ideals in developing countries, but somewhat indifferent to promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding at home.
