Abstract

Amongst the many benign lesions which affect the breast, hamartoma is a relatively uncommon one. The reported incidence of breast hamartoma lies in the range of from 0.7% to 4.8% of all benign breast lesions. Breast-hamartoma lesions are typically composed of varying portions of fatty, epithelial and fibrous tissue. The imaging findings for breast hamartoma can be quite variable. The appropriate correlation of the imaging studies and pathological findings is important to make an accurate diagnosis. Further, more hamartomas are likely to be detected with increasing use of screening breast imagery technology. In fact, it may be that the incidence of breast hamartoma has been underestimated. Herein, we report a 38year-old woman presented with a right breast lump for one month. She later received wide excision for breast lesion. Pathology and radiology confirmed breast hamartoma. No recurrence was observed during the ensuing two years of medical follow-up.
