Abstract

As the largest developing country, efficiently transforming natural advantage into economic advantage is vital for China's sustainable development. By applying Chinese 286 cities data, this paper aims to explore the effect and its mechanisms of green technological innovation (GTN) on resource curse. GTN is constructed by global Malmquist index. A two-sector model with resource and non-resource sector is first constructed for theoretical analysis, and the spatial econometric models are established for empirical analysis. The results show that resource curse exists across Chinese cities, but GTN can effectively break it. Environmental regulation has a U-shaped relationship with GTN, and most cities have passed the turning point. However, environmental regulation negatively moderates the effect of GTN on resource curse. Finally, corresponding policy implications are provided at the end of the study.
