Abstract

background: Research has clearly shown that children who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight or obese. Other factors essential to the understanding of breakfast consumption habits among young people are not as clear, such as where students eat this meal and with whom. Our objective was to determine how often Grade 7 and 11 Nova Scotia students eat breakfast, with whom, whether they participate in a school breakfast program, and their self-perceived weight concerns.
