Abstract
γ-ray intensities due to thermal neutron capture in 58Ni can be predicted in terms of the valency neutron model in which an s-wave neutron is scattered “directly” into a low lying P 1 2 or P 3 2 orbit. in 59Ni. Radiative width of the bound level at −28.5 ± 5 keV is determined to be 8.19 eV.
