Abstract

A new tirucallane triterpene, 3α,21α,21,23-diepoxy-tirucalla-7,24-diene, named brazoxide A, was isolated from aerial parts of Pilocarpus spicatus subsp. Aracatensis Kaastra. Its structure and stereochemistry was elucidated by spectroscopic methods, including 1D-, 2D-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS), molecular modeling techniques and comparison with literature data.
