Abstract

[Six new species of the family Parastenocarididae, from interstitial groundwater along streams on the slope of the Serra do Mar of Sao Paulo, are described. Parastenocaris divae n. sp. and P. tageae n. sp. belong to the remanei-group. Forficatocaris claudii n. sp., F. lilianae n. sp., F. evelinae n. sp. and F. jakobii n. sp. form a separate species group which probably is closely related to F. forficata (Noodt) from Santarem. The biogeography of the species of Forficatocaris, which is endemic to the Neotropical Region, and of those of the remanei-group of Parastenocaris, is discussed briefly., Six new species of the family Parastenocarididae, from interstitial groundwater along streams on the slope of the Serra do Mar of Sao Paulo, are described.
