Abstract

National economic growth can go only so far toward eradicating poverty if most of the poorest individuals live in rural areas that are untouched by that growth. This is the case in the African nation of Ghana, where a team from Arizona State University travelled to research the prospects for an electric generator based on the coals from cooking fires.
