Abstract

In the present work a study of the electronic spectrum of CO + produced by electron impact on CO has been carried out. From the measured emission intensities the branching ratios of the A 2 Π→ X 2 Σ + and B 2 Σ +→ X 2 Σ + transitions have been obtained. The dependence of the electronic transition moment on the internuclear separation for the “comet tail” and first negative band systems has been studied. For the first negative system the electronic transition moment decreases by a factor of about 1.15 in the r-centroid range 1.10–1.25 Å. For the “comet tail” system no dependence on the r-centroid in the range 1.07–1.21 Å has been found.
