Abstract

Recent studies suggest that brain stiffness changes to a certain extent when people suffer from neurological disorders in the brain. While the existing studies have not tested the brain tissue of patients with epilepsy so far. The indentation test as a loading mode offers several advantages for determining the constitutive properties of biological tissues. Here we characterize the stiffness of the brain with epilepsy. Strikingly the stiffness of the brain with epilepsy showed no significant change compared with other researches. The unconditioned cortex gray matter and cortex white matter showed equal stiffness. The presented results will help to improve the spatial resolution of the brain biomechanical properties and populate the finite element models of the brain.
