Abstract

This handsome volume has evolved in its tenth edition from a single-authored work to include contributions from 11 other distinguished British neurologists as well as from John Walton, who serves as editor of the new edition. The intended audience is stated in neither Lord Brain's preface to the first edition nor Lord Walton's preface to the current one, but the book's size will be daunting to medical students and general physicians, and it is likely to appeal as a reference work primarily to neurologists. The 24 chapters that constitute the book cover most of the important aspects of clinical neurology in a thorough and comprehensive manner, but the balance is sometimes uneven.
