Abstract

Brain is a major site of failure in both early and late stages of lung cancer. Autopsy series have shown that brain along with the liver and adrenal glands was involved in as high as 40-50% of cases.1,2 However, the brain was not exempt from being a common site of failure in patients with resectable stage N0-1 or unforeseen N2 tumors; it was found to be involved, as either the only site of failure or a part of generalized metastases, in 25%-50% of patients in surgical series.3,4 Failure in the brain by metastases remains a major challenge in management of patients with lung cancer.
