Abstract
Epigenetics refers to the modification of gene expression rather than alteration of the genetic code itself. The DNA doesn't change. But to use a common example, mice raised by stressed mothers are more likely to be stressed themselves even if not exposed to a stressful environment. A recent study found that both genetic and early environmental factors affect the development of borderline personality disorder (BPD), a condition for which this is no evidence‐based pharmacological treatment at this point.
