Abstract
A gravity survey, conducted in 1951 by the Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. resulted in the discovery of gas in the Boyd reef, St. Clair County, Michigan; however, the gas well was shut in. Subsequent drilling in 1955 by Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. resulted in another gas discovery in the Peters reef. Exploitation wells in the Boyd-Peters area have revealed a large reef complex (stratigraphic trap) which was productive from 130 wells as of December 31, 1967. (20 refs.)
