Abstract
A wideband high gain bowtie antenna loaded with Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) structure is proposed. Firstly, a wideband bowtie antenna is designed, and the wideband characteristics are achieved by loading the upper feeding branch with two open stubs perpendicular to it to form multiple resonances. Then, according to the characteristics of the in-phase reflection of the AMC structure, the wideband AMC array matching the operating frequency of the bowtie antenna is designed as its grounding plate. The proposed AMC structure is composed of 6x9 units, which is placed under the bowtie antenna to achieve high gain and broadband characteristics, and also reduce the profile. The simulation results show that the back lobe of the radiation pattern of the bowtie antenna is significantly suppressed with AMC, meanwhile, the gain is improved from 1.68 to 8.75dBi, within 2.39~3.52GHz.
