Abstract

This paper presents a system to analyse the bowling action in Cricket. The aim of the system is to calculate the elbow-flex angle of the bowler to examine the action as legal or illegal. Kinect Xbox 360 sensor is used to acquire the video of the complete action of the player. We have tested two methods for measuring angle of flex, that are marker-based techniques and marker-less techniques. Marker-less technique is used to find out the elbow-flex angle in which angle calculation is done by detecting skeleton points using built-in libraries of MATLAB and Java. Marker-based technique is used to find out the elbow flex angle in which angle calculation is done by detecting the markers attached on the body of the bowler. Once the action is analysed using single camera, multiple Kinect cameras are then interfaced for testing the bowling action from different angles. At the end, the angle of the elbow is obtained through the marker-based system is compared with the actual angle and discussed the accuracy of both systems.
