Abstract

This paper is concerned with the criticality question of a stationary neutron transport problem in a slab which is surrounded by reflectors. Based on the notion of an upper solution and its construction we obtain some explicit conditions on the average number of secondary neutrons for insuring the existence of nonnegative solutions of the coupled system. These conditions insure that the system is either critical or subcritical.
