Abstract

AbstractIn this paper, the ergodic mutual information of point‐to‐point multi‐antenna systems with spatially correlated Nakagami‐m fading channel is studied. We consider that no channel knowledge is available at the transmitter side, while the receiver has perfect channel state information. Using the unitary‐independent‐unitary framework, tools from majorisation theory, and recent results on the sum of independent Gamma random variables with different parameters, we derive new analytical closed‐form bounds and tight approximations to the ergodic mutual information in spatially correlated multi‐antenna channels. Our analytical expressions are verified through Monte Carlo simulations, and their effectiveness is compared with prior results in the literature. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
