Abstract

A boundary layer flow of incompressible viscous fluid past a stretching plate with suction has been investigated. Expressions for the Nusselt number have been derived for Pr=1, Pr⪡1 and Pr⪢1 using an order of magnitude analysis. Further, the Nusselt number has been obtained for large Prandtl numbers applying an asymptotic series expansion. The dependence of the boundary layer thickness and the Nusselt number on suction v o are discussed.
