Abstract

In this paper, some steady infiltration problems from periodic channels into two-layered soils are considered. The problems are governed by a system of Richards’ equations with boundary interface conditions. To solve the problems, the system of Richards’ equations with respect to some boundary conditions are transformed into a system of steady diffusion-convection equations with respect to transformed boundary conditions. The mathematical model is solved numerically using a proposed Dual Reciprocity Method (DRM). Numerical solutions are obtained to describe the distribution of soil water potential and hydraulic conductivity in the soils. The results demonstrate how soil coarseness and saturated hydraulic conductivity affect the values of soil water potential and hydraulic conductivity.
