Abstract

Based on Eringen's micropolar elasticity theory and weight residual method, a boundary element formulation is derived and a computer program is developed to solve the micropolar elastic problems. The program is verified by computing the displacements and microrotation at a point of an isotropic micropolar elastic plate under pure bending, and shown to be in excellent agreement with the existing analytical solution. Both two- and three-dimensional elastic problems can be solved with the method.
