Abstract

In a recent publication, the author has introduced a modified fundamental solution for thick Reissner plates resting on a Winkler elastic foundation, where the strong singular terms have been eliminated. In this paper, the newly derived fundamental solutions are employed to simplify the kernel functions in domain integral loading terms of boundary integral equations. The reduction of such domain integrals to boundary integrals, is demonstrated for cases with linearly-distributed loading, and cases with line shear forces and bending moments acting on arbitrary curves defined on the plate midplane. Several case studies with different types of loading conditions, have been analysed and results were compared with corresponding analytical solutions. It has been shown that the new derivations lead to very accurate boundary element analysis of thick plates on Winkler foundation under different types of loading.
