Abstract

A consistent theory is presented of the microscopic delocalization phenomenon in plasmas (the so-called Mott transition) and the Debye-Hückel nonideality correction to the thermodynamical functions in the chemical picture of a plasma. In the line of a van der Waals-like effective volume a self-consistency notion with respect to a classical radius - which is defined in the framework of Thomas-Fermi theory - of the bound states is introduced. Stability criterion, critical point and coexistence curve are discussed.
