Abstract

The bound-state spectrum of QED3 is studied using a quenched, ladder approximation to the homogeneous Bethe-Salpeter equation. Bound e + −e − states are classified in terms of their properties under space inversion and charge parity transformations. In addition to scalars and pseudoscalars, which form degenerate doublets, there exist doublet states, termed axi-scalars, whose transformation properties involve an arbitrary phase. Numerical solutions to the approximate Bethe-Salpeter equation for the lightest scalar and axi-scalar states are presented.
