Abstract

Hydrological and seismic reflection data indicate the existence of strong, but previously unsuspected abyssal circulation in the small Lord Howe Basin, located in the Tasman Sea just west of the Lord Howe Rise. It is postulated that this circulation, which may be intermittent, is associated with the near-surface Tasman Front.
