Abstract

The package Seismic Unix (SU) has a great number of useful programs to study of seismic waves propagation and reflection data processing. The programs in the SU package are executed from a shell command line or scripts. The tools available in the SU for the task of velocities analysis are not very user friendly and consequently they can compromise the precise determination of velocity values. In this paper, it is presented a first version of an interactive software, called BotoVelan, to help the user in the task of finding the best velocity values for an specific data through an intuitive and easy to use GUI (Graphical User Interface). This software can be used with seismic data or GPR data in the SU data file format. The first tests with synthetic seismic data had shown improvements in the use of the tools for velocity analysis with more precise velocity values determination.
