Abstract
Rationale: We previously demonstrated a lard-based low carbohydrate high fat diet (LCHFD), as compared with a normal diet, to improve survival at early time points and to reduce pro-inflammatory cytokine levels after gut ischemia reperfusion (gut I/R) in mice. Because different types of fat exert various influences on host responses, effects of LCHFDs on cytokine responses to gut I/R may differ according to the fat types contained.
