Abstract

The article considers botanical characteristics of the laurel family plants with the bay laurel being the most important representative. Brief information is given on the world market, origin and botanical characteristics, its biology and area, economic importance, use in traditional medicine, as well as contraindications are analysed. Useful and harmful properties of bay leaf are described. Identifying signs and storage conditions are presented.
