Abstract

The genus Gentiana (L.) belongs to the family Gentianaceae. In the present cytomorphological study, no new cytotype was reported in the selected species, namely G. kurroo Royle, G. moorcroftiana Wall. ex G. Don, G. pedicellata D. Don. Grisb. Further, morphometric characters also aligned with the previous results. Whereas, phytochemical screening through preliminary total phenolic content analysis revealed that all three species collected from Keylong (Lahaul & Spiti) had more prominent results than species collected from two other locations of Himachal Pradesh. Thereafter, further phytochemical and bioactivities studies were focused only on the samples/species collected from Keylong (Lahaul & Spiti).
