Abstract

The boson peaks in the spectra of alkali borate glasses are investigated. The results obtained are interpreted within a model of Einstein oscillators localized at medium-range order clusters with hinged bonds. Inferences are drawn regarding the statistical characteristics and self-organization of medium-range order structures in glasses, their vibrational spectrum, and the relation to the parameters of alkali ions.
