Abstract
The metathetic rearrangement of boron heterocycles containing an O - B (R) - O group with trivalent boron leads to oligomeric and/or polymeric ring systems. The equilibrium between the rings of different size is disturbed when crystallisation takes place. It is most probable that the monomeric rings can build up associated molecular structures with tetravalent boron atoms thus inhibiting the metathesis. But the rearrangement mechanism again rules the behaviour of the substances after melting the crystals
