Abstract

In this paper, nickel boride (Ni2B) was successfully loaded on carbon fiber paper by electrodeposition and high temperature annealing. The activities of the electrode materials were compared at different deposition currents. The results show that the Ni2B/CP-2 electrode with a high surface crystallinity and tetrahedral structure exhibits excellent (OER) activity. Specifically, it can drive a current density of 10 mA cm−2 at a low overpotential of 280.4 mV in 1 M KOH solution, and it has the highest TOF value among these four materials. Furthermore, highly electronegative boron reduces the energy barrier of the nickel metal oxidation reaction and contributes to the charge transfer.
