Abstract

Groundnut, king of oil-seeds is an important food crop, feed used for oil extraction and confectionery. Boron an essential micro-nutrient has significant impact over groundnut growth, yield and quality. Boron deficient is found widespread in groundnut growing areas. Boron deficiency resemble calcium deficiency viz., stubby plants, rosetted branching, split stems and roots, leaves with a yellow-green mosaic appearance, and shell deformity. The deficiency of boron on groundnut causes low pod filling, shriveled seeds and hollow darkening or off-color in the center of the seed causing 10-50% yield losses in groundnut. Research evidences has shown positive trend on growth, yield increment and quality enhancement thereby increasing the overall productivity of groundnut.
