Abstract

We adopt an exploratory approach to study the processes, enabling and constraining factors, and motivations of disaster related entrepreneurial venturing. The findings point toward unique characteristics of disaster related venturing in general, as well as specific considerations for spontaneous venturing from disaster and venturing during a disaster. We propose that disaster characteristics, disaster management culture and context, and dual logics of aiding and profiting shape the entrepreneurial experience of disaster related venturing.
