Abstract

Zinc Anodes In article number 2202419, Pinhua Rao, Won Mook Choi, Jianfeng Mao, and co-workers report that a trace organic gamma butyrolactone (GBL) additive can improve the reversibility and stability of a Zn anode. GBL molecules rearrange the ‘Zn2+-H2O-SO42−-GBL’ bonding-network of the aqueous electrolyte and absorb on the Zn surface, reducing water activity, suppressing corrosion and formation of by-product, and enabling uniform and compact Zn deposition.
