Abstract

The global manufacturing industry has been faced with many challenges and megatrends over the years. For companies to remain competitive they have to adapt to various megatrends, whilst ensuring efficient production, logistics and distribution. As these changes are driving advances in manufacturing processes and technologies, they are also driving material improvements to ensure that final products are reliable and of high quality. This article provides an overview of Dow Corning silicone foams for compression gaskets, which address customer needs for greater flexibility, production efficiencies and the increasing use of robotics on the assembly line – thus, boosting assembly-line productivity. It discusses the types of applications in which they can be used, their benefits and properties, and how these silicone foams are processed and cured.
