Abstract

This paper presents full-bridge zero current switching (ZCS) resonant converter using inductive output filter. The proposed converter topology has been derived from boost converter. The steady state analyses and designs are described for using both two-directional and one-directional switches. This paper shows the differences in analyses and performances for the converters using both types of switches. The research work also shows that the analysis of the converter using inductive output filter is a lot different from that using capacitive output filter. The control characteristics have been derived by using state-plane diagram approach and are shown in this research work. With using inductive output filter, the current injected to the load circuit will be smooth and nearly constant, rather than pulsating. The step-by-step design using the control characteristics are also described. In addition, the computer simulation results are given in order to confirm the analytical work.
