Abstract

Books about tobacco and smoking were produced for biology, social science, chemistry and geography classes during the period 1995–97. As 45% of Danish young people aged 16–19 study at ‘gymnasia’ or centres of higher education, the books are aimed specifically at this group, although they are also part of a larger campaign aimed at young people in general. The purpose is to provide students with knowledge about tobacco and smoking with a view to influencing their attitudes and behaviour. This is a cooperative project between the Danish Council on Smoking and Health, the Ministry of Education and the teachers’ unions.
