B OOKS B RIEFLY M ENTIONED Gerolimatos, Marina. Exhibition of Paintings. Harvard University. Cambridge MA, March 2002. H arvard University’s Eliot House was the site this March of an exhibition of paintings by Marina Gerolimatos. Born in Greece but now a resident of Malden, Massachusetts and employed at Harvard, Gerolimatos uses her art to explore various traditions and styles associated with both her native country and western European painting, in the process often quoting from artist-predecessors in creative and adaptive ways. Some of her canvases are secular in nature. The exhibition, for example, featured still lives indebted to the Impressionists,
