Abstract

It is difficult to overpraise this invaluable book, as scarcely a month has gone by in our department since the first edition appeared when we have not had recourse to it. It eventually suffered the fate of all good books and its disappearance from the library was a sad loss. For many months now we have been unable to fool the uninitiated with our apparent encyclopaedic knowledge of the more obscure bone disorders. The new edition, now in two volumes, arrived like the US cavalry—in the nick of time—and has been scanned as avidly as a soldier's letter from home.
