Abstract

This book is a tribute to the inventory genius of its editor, Raymond Ely, who has for many years been pioneering the development of practical high-intensity microfocus X-ray tubes. It is indeed largely to his credit that a tube is currently available in the UK capable of providing X rays from an electron beam focus of 15 μm diameter at currents of up to 1 mA. The aim of microfocal radiography is to provide highresolution radiographic detail by direct projection. The recognized technique is to position the object to be radiographed close to the tube focus with a large separation between the object and the image receptor.
