Abstract
This book reports on research in acute wards in Scottish city hospitals. Using open-ended interviews, the author explored the concerns of the nurses and families of patients with advanced cancer. Themes identified in the data formed the basis of an experiential workshop for the nurses, who collaborated to develop new standards of care. After implementation of the standards a second round of interviews was conducted to evaluate the changes.
