A historical archaeologist, she is particularly interested in material culture that can be linked to individual people, such as personal adornment and shoes. Her book, American Artifacts of Personal Adornment, 1680–1820: A Guide to Identification and Interpretation, was published in 2005 by AltaMira Press. She is co‐editor of the Guides to American Artifacts series, published by Left Coast Press.
