Abstract
The teaching courses organized by the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO) have always been very popular. This book summarizes the content of the ESTRO teaching course in Basic Radiobiology and is a really excellent introduction to the subject. The individual chapters are written by the teachers of that course in a concise format that has deliberately been chosen to be very visual, with a high proportion of figures to text. This allows an enormous amount of information to be included in the 233 pages.The chapters are all well written and easy to read. Complex mathematics has been avoided and those equations which have been included are carefully explained and represent the minimum necessary for a basic understanding of the subject. The individual chapters are laid out very much with teaching in mind and while they incorporate most of the latest concepts they should not be considered as exhaustive reviews on a given subject.
