Abstract

This book is the proceedings of a workshop held under the joint sponsorship of the CEC Radiation Protection Programme and the French Atomic Energy Commission Institute of Nuclear Protection, Fontenay aux Roses. One of the major problems in estimating radiation doses from the uptake of radionuclides in the environment, or in developing models with which to predict such doses and to set emergency reference levels for public safety, is the fact that the metabolism of and response to such nuclides vary considerably with age or stage of development of the organism.
