Abstract

A typical cotton product, swab gauze, was selected in this study and samples taken from different manufactures in China and from different stages during manufacturing were tested for detection of the occurring of pyronema domesticum. The findings indicate that the contamination source of P. domesticum is originating in the raw cotton materials possibly contaminated in the field. No clear relationship between number of pyronema positives and bioburden levels was found from this study.
