Burn is currently Foundation Professor and Head of School of Management Information Systems at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western Australia. She is a "global academic" having previously worked in U.K., Canada, and Hong Kong. Her research interests relate primarily to strategic planning for information systems, particularly in global organizations. This has been extended to cross-cultural studies and she has published extensively in these fields. Her latest book edited with Maris Martinson, and published in 1997 is "Information Technology and the Challenges for Hong Kong." She is a global associate editor of the Journal of Global Information technology Management (JGITM) and a book review editor for the Journal of Information Technology Cases and Applications (JITCA).
