Abstract

Ten years ago, Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) sponsored a conference to announce a national project for a new generation (fifth) of computers. The Fifth Generation Computing Project was initiated to develop computer programs that process symbolic information using logic programming languages capable of reasoning. Evan Tick participated in the project at the Institute of New Generation Computer Technology (ICOT) as a visiting foreign scientist.
