Abstract

It's time once again to choose a textbook for fall classes. We have had several quality texts for a number of years---I myself have used Rubenstein & Hersh, Norman & Draper and Shneiderman, and I know other colleagues with alternate preferences. Several new books can now be added to the list of candidate texts for an HCI course. In this article, I review five recent offerings. The earliest dates from 1987 and the latest from 1989 (though the '87 text is from Britain and may not be familiar to North American instructors).
